The morning is our preparation time for the rest of our day. 

 How we start our day will have a significant impact on how the rest of our day happens. Thus, just like we would want to eat a good breakfast to start the day on the right foot, we also want to make sure we are mentally in a good place to rock the day.

How do you start the morning?

If you start your morning off with a smile or feeling like things are going to be great, then congratulations you are part of the minority. Many people wake up to a harsh alarm clock and dread the day ahead of them.

Look, we all face challenges throughout our day; the difference is how we handle them. You can choose to see them as a challenge, a horrible problem or an adventure. Some obstacles that come up may be out of our control, but how we respond to them and use them is completely up to us!

It is easier to have a good attitude throughout the day if we start it off with something that makes us feel good. The techniques that people will use are all so different, but let’s look at some common ones that might help you get your day off to a great start.

#1 Visualize a great day - Visualization is a method that is used to imagine what you want to happen. It is like a way to do a run through before you physically do it. You can go through what you want to accomplish in your physical training or in your day. When we use imagery, we are stimulating our nervous system and muscles, creating muscle memory of the sport or activity we are using the imagery for.

You can visualize anything that will help make the day great. It could be that you do a general visualization of the day going great, or it could be that you visualize a meeting you have that day going great, or having an amazing workout session. #2 Read a motivational page - There are so many motivational books out now days. You can go to the library, book store, Amazon and even get them downloaded to your mobile device. There is no shortage of books. Find a self-help, motivation or other book that makes you feel great. Many people like to read from the Bible or read books from people like Jack Canfield or Tony Robbins. You will resonate with some and not with others. Find what works for you, then you can start your day off by reading a page. You can even end the day with page as well. If you do not have time to read a page, find a book that has it broken down into powerful paragraphs and just read a paragraph. Do what you have time for.

#3 Watch a video that lifts your spirits - There is an online mecca of videos. You can go to site like YouTube and find tons of motivational videos to choose from. You could take one evening and find a handful that really speak to you and just rotate those, and when you feel like you need something new take some time to find a few more. This is my favorite method for starting the day right. While I am eating breakfast I watch a motivational video. It not only gives me a positive kick to start with in the morning, but it also gives me something to think about throughout the day as well. If I am having a rougher day than usual then I might listen to one or two more of them through the day to keep me in the positive mind frame.

#4 Listen to some music that lifts your thoughts - The amount of amazing music available for free and at the touch of a button is mind boggling. I love listening to positive music that make me feel like I can take on the world, or that I am at peace, or that everything will turn out just as I want it to. If you do not know what songs to look at for positive music just look online or ask your friends what songs uplift them.

#5 Find something to laugh about - It is said that laughter is the best medicine and I am inclined to believe it is true. A good laugh first thing in the morning will make you feel great. Check out comedy online or go buy some comedy CD's; you can then listen to them on the way to work.

From there, see how long you can hold that good feeling.

These are all examples. You may have something else that makes your day start off on a good note. It does not matter whether your way of finding a good place is common place or not, just as long as it works for you. Look, this life is too short to spend it miserable. You deserve to enjoy it, and you can make a choice to enjoy it. If you don't think that is possible, then at least make a choice to find something you can appreciate and enjoy in your life and grow it from there. Just start off with finding your happy note in the morning and see what happens. You deserve to live a life you love.
