Dear Lauren,

I am having a lot of skin breakouts. Is this a sign of any specific health condition? Is there something I can do to stop this?

Thank you,

Dear Louise,

Skin issues can be skin bacteria, or a host of other internal health issues. It is good to look at any other symptoms you may have because that can give you a good starting place to look. Some people have candida issues and that can not only cause skin breakouts but also bloating, nausea, fatigue etc. Or even food sensitivities can cause skin issues. I know when I eat any dairy aside from yogurt my skin goes crazy. The best thing to do is talk to a doctor or a dermatologist. They will be able to give you a more definitive answer instead of me guessing. If you are really wanting to go it alone then you still need to look at all the other symptoms you may have.

Whether you have more symptoms or if skin issues are the only thing going on then I would look at your diet. Are you eating sugar and dairy? These tend to be two of the most common culprits for people. Are you eating plenty of vegetables and drinking plenty of water? These tend to be the best thing for you skin with relation to diet. If that does not seem to change anything you can always test out an elimination diet and pay attention to what foods are causing a reaction in you.

Of course the other obvious thing (which I am sure you are already doing) is to keep your skin very clean. Take showers daily and make sure to pay attention to the lotions, soaps etc you are using. Your body could simply be reacting to something in your products.
