Are there any short cuts I can take to make better meals in the limited amount of time I have?

Yes! Actually there are a lot of short cuts. Obviously, it is better when we can have everything freshly cooked daily, but I understand that many people do not have a lot of time but want something better than drive through. Here are some things that can help:

Use Frozen Vegetables- Yes fresh vegetables are preferable but frozen is a great alternative when you are low on time. All you have to do is throw them on a plate and heat them up.

Buy Precooked Meat- There are so many options now for precooked meats. You can get rotisserie chicken, hamburgers, etc.; just make sure that you are not getting stuff that is coated in bread crumbs and filled with cheese. Stick with healthy lean choices.

Have Pre-made Salad on Hand- You can get many varieties of ready made salads, or by getting bags of spring blends and bags of shredded vegetables mix them together. This is a quick way to have a very healthy side dish. For a dressing you can toss it with olive oil, spices and a little bit of lemon.

Precook your Breakfast on the Weekend- Make things like frittatas on the weekend so you can have a healthy breakfast throughout the week. For this you can mix any vegetables and meats, then mix it with scrambled eggs and cook it in the oven. I personally do not use cheese in my frittatas since I want a healthier option.

Bake some Healthy Muffins- If you eat grains you can make some whole grain muffins as snacks or breakfast as well. Use more whole grains instead of flour and keep the sweetener low. Typical muffins are not any better than having cake for breakfast, so if you re going to do muffins make them healthy.

These are just a few examples of things you can do. Start with these short cuts and find more as you go. LIVE FULL OUT!
