Dear Lauren,

I need to give up coffee, but how can I give it up when I am so exhausted? I have been told I need to give this up because of adrenal exhaustion. I feel like I won't be able to function without it. So what do I do?

Thank you,

Dear Annabelle,

First off, it can take a couple of weeks to get through the initial exhaustion that comes with getting rid of the coffee. The good news is once you get over this adjustment, most people will feel better than they felt with the coffee. When you do not have adrenal exhaustion then a cup of coffee is not a big deal, but when you have adrenal gland issues the coffee is making things worse. That is one of the main things that you need to understand. The extra boost is not actually helping you. Rather, it is actually taking you further into more adrenal problems.

Get more sleep. For a week or two you may need to get some more sleep. See if you can get to bed a little bit earlier and take naps through the day when possible. You can take supplements to help with your energy levels, such as a B complex and Ginseng. .

The initial stage of giving up coffee can be difficult, but it is worth it.
