Coffee Craving Tamer

I love coffee and cream, specifically espresso and cream. But for people who have either compromised adrenal glands or other issues that are made worse by caffeine, the real thing is not the best option. I find this mixture helps take care of the coffee craving. Is it exactly the same? No, But it does taste good, and so far it is the closest thing I have found to a good coffee drink without actually being coffee, plus it has a lot of health benefits. The combination below has orange peel in it, but another good combination is to replace the orange peel with 1/4-1/2 tsp of dried ginger root, it makes it spicy like a ginger snap. This can be done with cream, lighter milk and even coconut milk. If you are on a candida cleanse the heavy cream is your best option, if you do not drink dairy then coconut milk is the best option I have found. I hope this helps you with your coffee cravings as much as it does me.

Ingredients

  • 1 heaping tsp roasted chicory root

  • 1 tsp roasted dandelion root

  • 1 tsp dried orange peel

  • ½ tsp stevia

  • Mix with 1 tbsp heavy whipping cream (liquid) or 3 Tbsp coconut milk

  • Top with 2 large tbsp of whipped cream (whipped) or 2 Tbsp coconut cream

  • Ice (optional)

Steps

  1. Place all the herbs in a tea ball or reusable tea bag. Pour boiling water over the tea bag, I use about 1 1/2 cups of water but you can use more or less depending on how strong you like your tea.

  2. Step tea for at least 5 minutes. 10 is better for a stronger flavor

  3. Either leave hot or pour over ice.

  4. Add in 1 tbsp whipping cream still in liquid form

  5. Whip 2 tbsp whipping cream and add to the tea. sprinkle with chocolate power if desired

  6. Whipped cream is optional on both of these. It makes a pretty presentation, but when it is for yourself and you are in a hurry, it can be easier to just leave it off.
