Often many of us hold negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves and our abilities. Do you ever stop to think how these thoughts are effecting your ability to accomplish what you would like in your health or in your life? What success have had in your health? Or the lack of it? These is directly affected by what you are thinking.

What if you could just change one thought in your head to effect a change for the better? One sentence or phrase that you could say to yourself to change your outcome? Good news – this is possible! It does not work like some miracle that will instantly make everything perfect in your life, but it can start to influence you little by little. Those little changes can really make a big difference.

It all starts with just one phrase or affirmation, if you would like to call it that. Start by finding a phrase that strikes a chord in you.

For example:

If you feel like nothing is going right for you and you are missing opportunities, then you may want to say something like:

  • Whatever I need is already here and it is all for my highest good.

  • I am unlimited. All areas of my life are abundant and fulfilling.

  • This is a day of success for me. I will succeed at everything I want to do.

If you are having some trouble with your health, then some good ones may be:

  • I am now in charge of my mind and my life. I am a powerful woman and every part of my body functions perfectly.

  • Today I am grateful for nourishing foods. My body heals and strengthens with every bite I take.

  • I make good choices and my body appreciates how I take care of it.

What if you are having confidence issues or body image issues? This is a very common issue. Some good ones for this are:

  • I am beautiful and everybody loves me.

  • I am loved and accepted exactly as I am right now.

  • I love my body and am now willing to see my own beauty and magnificence.

Louise Hay has a ton of amazing affirmations. She posts affirmations most days on Facebook. You can just look through them and see which affirmations sound like they will work well for the issues you are dealing with.

Say whatever affirmation or multiple affirmations you choose out loud and with as much emotion as you can. If you can do them in a mirror while looking at yourself that is good, too. A mirror is especially great when you are dealing with body image or self-acceptance issues. It gives you a chance to look into your own eyes and start to accept yourself. Seeing the great attributes you have is good for any person at any stage in life.

You can also think this phrase to yourself all throughout the day. Especially when you are having negative thoughts. Because a great way to combat a negative thought is to replace it with a positive one.

I use this often when I am in the car (as long as I know it well). This way, I am using my drive time wisely. This is also a great way to do them if you are embarrassed that someone may hear you. You can also do this in your shower or while you are getting ready in the morning. It does not matter where you do them or when you do them, just as long as you feel comfortable and can put emotion behind it.

Once you have used a specific phrase for a while –a week, a month or more - and feel like you have received what you need from that phrase, you can create or find a new one. This can continue to help you improve your outlook and mindset. A great thing about affirmations is that it is a quick easy and convenient way to help with a more positive mindset for the people who do not have time to incorporate all the different motivational/self-help techniques out there. It is also great if you are someone who is just not super motivated to really delve into any more in depth self-help techniques. Affirmations are an easy way to effect change without putting a ton of time into it. It sounds simple and it can sound silly to some, but it works for many people, so it is worth it to test it out for yourself.
