I am working hard to get my health in line. I have created a schedule that includes my fitness routines for each day and my meal plan, but I am have a hard time sticking to it. What can I do for this?
There are a few things to look at here. First of all, is your schedule so jam packed that you do not have time to think, relax or play? If your schedule is that full, you will fall off schedule. You will have some time when a friend calls and wants to talk to you, your child is sick and needs you, or a host of other things that needs to be taken care of immediately. So leave enough wiggle room in your schedule. You may just need to simplify a bit.
Another thing to remember is that a schedule is great to have, but it does not mean you have to stick to it completely. It will give you a basis so that you are not just floating around aimlessly, not knowing what you need to do. But it does not need to be followed by the letter. It is a guide, remember that.
Plan for when your schedule does not happen the way you expected. If you are planning out your meals that is great. But I will tell you, even for me, it does not always happen just as I plan it. I have a variety of homemade and pre-made meals in the freezer, just in case I have something that prevents me from cooking my planned meals.
Your workouts do not have to be exactly what you have written down. That is nice in a perfect world, but just make sure you are doing something every day. If you are too sore for upper body, do lower body that day. If you cannot stand the thought of being in the gym, then go for a run or a hike.
Your schedule is not set in stone. It is a guide to help you accomplish what you want in your life, but you do not need to beat yourself up if it does not happen exactly as you wanted it too. This goes for anything you are planning, fitness, career or life. Don't be too hard on yourself. Push yourself to accomplish as much as you can but know the difference between a healthy push and stressing yourself out.
